I am interested in what is happening right now and in the things that are affecting me, my community and the world. All my work is interested in participation. Participation in process and an active audience experiencing my work. My practice delves deep into the ideas being explored. I make art about what I know.
The process for this reflects the pace of life and real experiences. Sometimes the simplicity of an idea takes a while to arrive. The work I create plays in the areas of fusing live performance with available technologies, multimedia, visual imagery, choreographic movement and poetic text.
I also very much enjoy and have a rich history of creating work with young people, older adults and both together (intergenerational). Always making sure to reflect what is going on for them in a real way. I will work in a way that provokes and then I see what comes out in the process. I will frame or direct the work from this. If I have worked with a group for a while I will often begin with a framed idea to create within. For example "Where's Alice" with young and emerging artists. I initiated the concept and then collaborated with a programmer to have the framework in place before collaborating on the content with the group of young people.
